MIKE WADE, PHD

Mike Wade is a Research Scientist with the Environmental Health Sciences Division of Health Canada in Ottawa. Dr. Wade is the Co-chair of both the Government of Canada 5NR and the Health Canada Endocrine Disruptors working groups. The 5NR Working Group on Endocrine Disrupting Substances in the Environment has the objective of ensuring sound scientific input into Canadian policy and regulatory activities, through co-operation among government departments. This is accomplished by reviewing and identifying the information needs and knowledge gaps, creating and maintaining an inventory of related departmental activities and promoting the communication of scientific information and developments on the endocrine disrupting issues among departments and to the public. Dr. Wade also has an extensive background in basic research, focussing on areas such as reproductive hormones, signalling pathways, ovarian function in addition to reproductive toxicology.
